Three poets from the CREC Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts have won the Fresh Voices Poetry Contest and will now go on to read at the prestigious Sunken Garden Festival this summer. The Fresh Voices competition is a program put on by the Hill-Stead Museum where local youth poets write and perform poetry that is suitable for publication. On May 10th, creative writers Sophia Ciraldo, Ava Varano, and Danny Diaz-Villafane gave a strong and passionate performance in front of a panel of regional notables. They make up half of the six winners, who will be published in a chap book to be sold at the Hill-Stead Museum’s gift shop. They will now perform in the annual “Sunken Garden Poetry Festival” on Sunday August 11th also at the Hill-Stead.
