Half Day or Full Day: What's The Difference?

VA Student

CREC Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts High School is the umbrella name given to two different CREC programs "The Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts Half Day" and "The Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts Full Day." Since students have different aspirations and creative paths, CREC responded by designing two individual schools/programs with different approaches to arts and intensity of arts education.

Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts Half Day is a pre-college, rigorous arts preparatory program expressly designed to develop the skills students need to pursue the arts in college and as a career. Because the focus is strictly on arts education, students will still attend their home district for academics.

At the Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts Full Day, students explore their own path in arts education by choosing from a variety of arts courses while receiving a fully accredited high school education.

Approximately 90 people were in attendance at Hartford’s Studio 224 where young artists performed original poetry, music, interpretive dances, monologues, and spoken word.

Very recently, students from the CREC Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts Full Day and elementary students from CREC Ana Grace Academy teamed up to help raise funds for Comfort Cases...

Teaching Self-Image Through Art
High school students are using art to teach others about positive self-image. Art students in the “Creativity in the Community” class recently created posters to hang at Ana Grace Academy, an elementary magnet school focused on the arts. The posters are on the theme of positive self-image with messages such as “Only You Can Define You,” “don’t let others arrange you, Be yourself,” and “Don’t Dream It, Be It.” The work was requested by Justin Banks who works as the director of the arts for Ana Grace.
