Another school year and once again visual artist from the CREC Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts held their Empty Bowls fundraising event. Lead by artist instructor Ann Baldwin, ceramic bowls were created by herself and students in the department. They were sold for a suggested donation of $5, $10, and $20 during a delicious potluck dinner provided by faculty and families of the Academy.
Proceeds from the event will go to the visual arts department and will be used to purchase supplies and to fund field trips.

Keeping with the tradition of providing for our community, unsold bowls were donated to the Chrysalis Center in Hartford. The purpose of the center is provide assistance to impoverished families who are dealing with mental illness issues.

Later that evening, families took part in an open house where they met their child’s teachers in both the academic and arts parts of the program.
