It was a night of meeting parents, enjoying food, and taking in some student artwork all while helping victims of the latest hurricanes.
On Thursday, October 12, the CREC Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts hosted their annual open house giving parents the opportunity to see student work as well as learn about classes. The evening started off with a Q/A session followed by presentations within the student’s respective arts department. Afterwards, parents were directed to their child’s academic classes where they had the chance to meet their teacher as well as learn about their classes.
Throughout the evening, an “Empty Bowls” fundraiser was held. Attendees purchased a ceramic bowl created by the Academy’s Visual and Creative Writing/Media Arts students. Participants filled their bowl with various foods provided by staff. Proceeds from the fundraiser went to CREC’s hurricane relief efforts. A total of $834 was raised.
