Sometimes it takes nothing more than a song and a little companionship to make someone’s day. That’s exactly what the Academy Therapy band did just last week. The class, taught by artist instructor Jeff McQuillan, is a musical group with the aim of healing and bringing together community. On Wednesday, June 6, the group took a journey across the river to the Glastonbury Health Center nursing home. Residents and staff were dancing, shaking, and grooving as the performers played songs such as The Hollies “Bus Stop” and more modernly “How to Save a Life” by the alternative band The Fray. Two students, Ben Dionne and Alex Nordlund even shared their original music. It was a great day for everybody.
