Young aspiring dancers had another opportunity to learn with greatness. Over the weekend, some forty plus dance majors at the Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts went to New York City to workshop with master teacher JoLea Maffei at Peridance Capezio Center . Maffei, whose performance credits include work with the New York Ballroom Company and Milton Myers Dance Company is on the faculty of New York University, Steps on Broadway, and Hofstra University. She is known for her work teaching the Horton Method of Dance and is a recipient of the Gertrude Heubner Award for Excellence in Dance.

Many times throughout the school year, master artists are brought in for workshops and master classes with Academy Students. It provides an excellent opportunity for aspiring artists to learn from these well known and accomplished individuals. This field trip provided yet another one of those many opportunities. Later that day, the students watched a performance of Matthew Bourne's " The Red Shoes " at City Center. The whole day proved an invaluable experience.
