Local musical theater students had a taste of greatness as renowned choreographer, actor, and dancer Maurice Hines spent an afternoon with them. Twenty seven students from CREC’s Greater Hartford Academy work-shopped with Hines and cast mate John Manzari. The masterclass was courtesy of the Bushnell Center of Performing Arts. Maurice Hines is a well-known dancer/actor who has performed in and off Broadway and motion pictures including Bring Back Birdie, Sophisticated Ladies, and Guys and Dolls. He made his film debut in 1984 playing Clay Williams in Francis Ford Coppola’s The Cotton Club.

Hines is one of many in a series of well-known performers who workshop with Academy Students. These masterclasses are a wonderful opportunity in the learning experience at the Academy.
