Two poets from the CREC Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts will have a chance to read their original works this summer. On April 27, Academy juniors Alex Nordlund and Rachel Justice shared their work at the Fresh Voices Poetry Competition at the Hillstead Museum in Farmington. The event hosts young poets from across the state and is judged by a panel of notable poets. Rachel Justice read her work “Clean,” “Placeholder,” and “Carrie Fisher on My Bad Days.” Alex Nordlund read his work “Writing Poetry.” Both poets study Creative Writing at the Academy. They along with three other winners from the state will have the chance to read their work at the Sunken Garden Poetry Festival at the museum this summer.
