Academy Staff Receives Honors

GHAA Staff Honored

Some prestigious recognitions have recently been awarded to various staff members of the CREC Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts.

First, visual artist instructor Francine Gintoff, has had her own work featured in National Drawing and Print Competitive Exhibition. She is one of 28 featured artists out of 500 applicants. Her work will be on display in Baltimore.

In the music dept. instructor Daniel Salazar is a winner of the Vision Award for Arts Education from the Charter Oak Cultural Center. According to the center, Daniel is being honored for his contributions to music and music education in the Hartford area. They noted his many accomplishments including serving as artistic director for the CT Guitar Society. This latest award is one of many Salazar had received over the years including the 2017 Fund for Teachers’ Professional Development Award and a 2015 National Artist Teacher Fellowship.

Finally, Academy director of the arts Kim Stroud has won the 2018 Arts Hero Award for the Greater Hartford Region. The award honors Connecticut residents who are doing extraordinary in the arts. This year’s award theme was resiliency. Kim was selected out of 165 nominees and will be recognized at CT Arts Day.
