In a spacious lecture hall at New Britain High School Monday, burgeoning student artists were assured they are not alone in their vulnerability; Mandy Gonzalez of Broadway’s “Hamilton” feels it too.

"When you go on stage, because it is so vulnerable, you start to worry about things," Gonzalez told students from New Britain High School, CREC’s Greater Hartford Academy of Arts and Central Connecticut State University gathered for workshops. "For me, it's judgment.
Often, the mindset, Gonzalez conceded, is to focus on what you could do better, not what you have already done well.

Gonzalez, who had the role of Angelica Schuyler in “Hamilton” and acted on TV shows “Madam Secretary” and “Quantico,” asked the students to divulge something no one else knew. Gonzalez said it’s important to remember what makes them special.
