The Theater of the Performing Arts

Summer Academy

VA StudentMultidisciplinary workshops for students in 6th-12th grade with a desire to develop their skills in Acting, Creative Writing, Dance, Visual Arts & Voice at the Learning Corridor Campus. We are offering two 1-week sessions. Click for more information below.

Young Voices
Young Poets To Read At Festival
Three poets from the CREC Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts have won the Fresh Voices Poetry Contest and will now go on to read at the prestigious Sunken Garden Festival this summer. The Fresh Voices competition is a program put on by the Hill-Stead Museum where local youth poets write and perform poetry that is suitable for publication.

He’s a young aspiring architect. On a daily basis, you will see him in the halls of Academy, laptop in hand, drafting his latest masterpiece. That’s why when it came to choosing student designers for the Academy’s spring musical “Once On This Island,” junior Bairon Selgado Cruz (West Hartford) was the perfect choice.
